Arriving by Car

From Porto
Take the A28 north towards Viana do Castelo, continuing until the Afife exit. Follow signs for Caminho do Barroso.  Convento de Cabanas is located at number 63, surrounded by gardens and overlooking the river.

From Lisbon
Take the A1 towards Porto, then join the A28 north in the direction of Viana do Castelo. Continue to the Afife exit, and follow signs for Caminho do Barroso. The Convento is approximately 3h30m hours from Lisbon by car.

From Galicia (Spain)
Take the AP-9 to the A3 towards Porto, exiting at Viana do Castelo / Vila Praia de Âncora. Join the A28 southbound, exiting at Afife, then follow local signs to Caminho do Barroso 63.

The closest airport is Porto Airport (Francisco Sá Carneiro – 78 km), with frequent international and domestic connections.

Arriving by Train

Afife Train Station is just 1 km from the Convento and served by regional trains from Porto – Campanhã and Viana do Castelo. We recommend booking a local transfer in advance to ensure a smooth arrival.
